Things You Must do to Take Care of Your Teeth
While we all understand the importance of oral health and are interested in giving it the care it deserves, in today’s fast paced world, we get so busy and often times, miss out the things you promised you, dentist, you would do regularly! There is only so much a dental care expert can do for your pearly whites and you alone are responsible for their long-term wellbeing.

Here are a few steps that you can follow to give your teeth the care that they deserve.

Stick to a Routine

Consistency is crucial for oral hygiene and the most important step is brushing your teeth with a soft-bristled brush at least two times a day. The most ideal times of the day for brushing are right after you wake up in the morning and before you go to bed at night.

You must brush them in a circular motion in order to effectively touch all sections inside the mouth and an equal amount of time must be spent brushing each quadrant. Electric toothbrushes do a great job because the motion of the bristles takes a load off your hands and the built-in timers ensure that you spend the ideal amount of time brushing.

Flossing is a Must

Flossing will help remove food particles that find their way in between your teeth, which can’t always be removed using a toothbrush. These food particles can increase the growth and activity of bacteria, and overnight, they will damage your teeth and create serious problems. You mustn’t put a lot of pressure by pulling hard on the string when flossing, because that can damage delicate gums or even or pull teeth loose.

While flossing once (at night) is enough for most people, consider flossing twice a day, especially if you are prone to gum diseases and tartar build-up.

Regular Visits to the Dentist

You should have a standing appointment with your dentist and always make it a point to stick to this schedule and never miss an appointment. There are some who dread going to the dental clinic for various reasons, and always find an excuse to put the appointments off to another day. If you’ve already found the best dental clinic Berwick, you need to show up.

Your dentist will be able to identify any minor issues at the initial stages itself and do the needful to treat them and prevent them from getting serious. Make it a point to visit your oral health expert once every 6 months, but if you are already suffering from some dental condition, make an appointment for once every 3 months or so.

Watch what You Eat

You’ve been told since your childhood that candy, bubblegum, chips, soft drinks, chips and a whole lot of other junk food can damage your teeth, and yet, after all these years, you still need reminding! Sticky sweets such as bubblegum take a long time to get cleaned off because they hard to remove and this can accelerate the growth of harmful bacteria even more. Therefore, stick to a healthy diet rich with vitamins, calcium and iron and drink lots of water to give your teeth the right level of nutrition.
